Hello third space colleagues (and interested friends),
REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN
Registration for both parts of the Third Space Symposium is now open. You can register free for the online asynchronous Slowposium (Fri Nov 15- Sat Nov 30) and secure your place in our global conversations about all facets of the tertiary education third space. This will primarily involve engaging with resources and participating in (or leading) discussions, but there are already several exciting live sessions in the mix (more info on those soon).
You can also sign up to attend the in-person Symposium at the University of Melbourne on Sun Dec 1. This will focus on the work of third space folk working to enable better teaching through learning design, educational technology and academic development and our assorted triumphs and challenges. Registration for the symposium is $56 (GST and fees inclusive) and it is fully catered. Places for the in-person symposium are limited. (There will not be a virtual strand for this event - that is what the Slowposium is for)
SUBMISSIONS CLOSE SOON - Sept 1st
Do you have something to say or something to share about working in the tertiary education third space? Do you have a burning question that you would like to discussion with this community, or a problem that you would like to find a solution for?
Submission guidelines:
Abstracts: All expressions of interest should include an abstract of up to 250 words summarising the proposed activity or contribution.
Slowposium (15-30 Nov) formats: We welcome a diverse range of formats including (but not limited to) short recordings of presentations or discussions, podcasts, comics, poetry, creating writing, articles for feedback or collaborative online annotation, discussion forum topics, asynchronous activities, interactive multimedia (e.g. Twine or H5P) and more - that is, any activity or resource that we can upload to our Moodle site and people can engage with and/or discuss. (We are also open to live/synchronous sessions)
Symposium (1 Dec) formats: The morning session will feature presentations and discussions and the afternoon session will have more of a practical focus on working together to start finding and creating useful solutions and opportunities for third space practitioners, informed by ideas arising both from the morning sessions and the Slowposium. In this call for proposals we are mainly looking for ideas for the morning (e.g. Pecha Kucha or a 10-15 min talk) but are open to other ideas as well.
Deadline: Please submit your proposal for review by 11:59 pm (your time), Sunday 1st September via the Submit a proposal page on the website
We look forward to hearing from you
